Take Heart: Bring On the Rain!

The past couple of days we have had some crazy rain storms! It has been awesome. I knew the storms were coming because they had been predicted for a couple days and it had been gloomy here and there for a few days. I told Joe that as soon as the rains came, we would be outside dancing in it! Well, we have some friends who put together a kickball game on Friday nights. We went out to play but it ended up being just us 4. They had brought a 4 square ball with them, just in case this happened so we went to the large sidewalk and played 4 square instead! We eventually had one more person join and we had a great time playing 4 square. Yes, it was as awesome as I remembered from my elementary days. And if you didn't think it was awesome OR didn't play it in your elementary days...well, I feel sorry for you. Shout out to our friends, the Vaughans, for putting it together! Anyway, about 45 minutes into us playing, it started to rain! It started out as a light rain at first but then it really started to come down! We continued to play for awhile, while also jumping in some puddles! It was even better than dancing in the rain. Here we are after the 4 square spectacular.

That little penguin next to us (which Joe so strategically placed) is Stella. We got her at Sea World when we were there a couple weeks ago and she's pretty much part of the family now. I actually didn't notice that Joe placed her in the picture until I was looking at them later and I laughed so hard! Isn't she so cute sitting there next to us?!

Today, Saturday, is the first weekend that we have been in Logan for awhile! So we decided to enjoy Logan to it's fullest. We went to the Farmer's Market for a bit and then to the sidewalk sales that were happening on Main Street. It was also the Cache Gran Fondo (a 100-mile bike race in Cache Valley) which ended near Main Street in Logan so there was a lot of food and retailers from bike stores. It had been sprinkling a bit here and there but after about 30 minutes of walking around, it started to come down again. I had my rain jacket this time so it wasn't too bad for me but Joe was a little worse off in just his t-shirt. Here are some pictures from when we were taking refuge under a store front and looking onto the street.

It turns out there were some awesome deals going on. Hence the sidewalk sales. Joe and I both got some nice Aggie t-shirts for $5 each. Our local sports store was where we splurged a little. They had a Camelbak that can hold 3 liters, or 100 ounces, of water and was like a small backpack so you can fit other stuff in there. We got this for $40! When we went in the store to buy this, we noticed they had skis on sale. They were skis that had been used as rental skis previously, but they were in pretty good condition. Joe found some nicer ones and so of course we had to get them for him. He had previously been using my brother's skis because my brother was in Ohio but now they are back and Joe no longer has that option. Marrying into my family, it's kind of a need to own skis. We knew that he would definitely get good use out of them so we gave in to those. The good news...$75 for his skis! This was a killer deal! So even though we'll still need to get him boots and poles and we spent a good chunk of money on things that day, we felt good about it. Here are some pictures of us with our sweet purchases.
